Together, credit union members and staff can have a positive impact on our community’s financial health. At Scott Credit Union, banking looks different. We’re with you for every stage of life. We're with you for every stage of life to build better financial futures.
For more than 80 years, we have served our members as a not-for-profit financial cooperative with banking services and competitive interest rates. Our members join SCU as owners and enjoy the benefits of credit union membership, including financial education and guidance for every stage of life and business.
Founded in 1943 by and for civilian employees at Scott Field (now Scott Air Force Base), we are now a full service financial institution providing financial services for individuals and businesses in 32 counties throughout Missouri and Illinois.
Together, credit union members and staff impact the communities we serve.
Our Board of Directors consists of members who are volunteers. They provide strategic direction, driven by our members’ needs. Credit unions typically pay more interest on savings, charge lower rates on loans, and help members avoid many of the fees that banks charge their customers. In addition, SCU is committed to serving the communities where we live and work.
Scott Credit Union has a long tradition of supporting the communities we serve. The Scott Credit Union Community Foundation was established in 2018 to expand our reach and amplify community support.
“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much” - Helen Keller
Our employees are really VIPs!
At SCU, community service brings us together. Credit union employees have a heart for serving our neighbors and members.
“Through VIP, [SCU employees] can help to create opportunities and [build] an equitable community. It excites me to know our organization directly aligns with its values and that together we can make a lasting difference in our local communities whether that’s in financial education, cyber security, or anything else that is important to us.”
– Mark Torres
2021 VIP of the Year
SCU has contributed almost $3.7 million and encouraged employee volunteerism for a variety of local civic efforts and financial education. We have increased our community involvement and focus on education to improve financial literacy and equitable opportunity throughout the region we serve.

MoneyWise was originally created through a partnership with the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois to help Daisy and Brownie troops earn badges. This workbook teaches students to identify coins and bills, distinguish between needs and wants, and determine ways to save, share, and spend money they have earned.
Scott Credit Union has partnered with the St. Louis Cardinals to offer a financial literacy program that introduces students to the importance of making smart financial decisions. Both parents and educators are welcome to use this curriculum.
We are a proud partner of Lindenwood University, McKendree University, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and Southwestern Illinois College, as well as many area elementary, middle, and high schools.
In addition, we partner with the Southwestern Illinois College Foundation and Lewis & Clark Community College Foundation to offer a $1,000 scholarship to each college. Please visit their websites for more information.
